The founder of chiropractic treatment is considered to be Daniel David Palmer. His first treatment experience was made in 1895, when he cured his office janitor, which suffered from deafness. Daniel David Palmer realigned a group of small bones in the spine of the patient, due to what the patient started to hear. Palmer developed other chiropractic principles in Iowa Davenport. He analyzed very attentively the spine. Observing that this organ is very important to the main three functions of the human body. It is a protective tissue around the spinal cord, a major organ in the nervous system and it also supports many muscles in the back area. Because this anatomic part of the body is composed of many linked bones, it also has practically many joints. Palmer considered that any damage or disease caused to the spine will affect other organs or parts of the body. This problem could be solved by manipulation, the chiropractors having the possibility to rehabilitate the person after injury and also to solve health problems as asthma, relaxing the thorax muscles. Daniel Palmer developed a method that could solve many health problems without the help of surgery or drugs, by rearranging gently the bones that seemed misaligned.

The first chiropractic school was created in 1895 in Davenport. Bartlet Joshua Palmer the son of Daniel Palmer, started to work in 1907, continuing the project of his father.
